Claygate Dramatic Society is a local amateur dramatic society, based in the friendly village of Claygate, in close proximity to Surbiton and Kingston. The society has been in existence since before the Second World War. It resumed in 1946 and was called ‘The Claygate Social and Dramatic Society ’.
The society has been a member of the National Operatic and Dramatic Society, and has won many awards for plays and acting. CDS puts on two or three productions each year, a play in April and a pantomime in November or January are regular fixtures and then there is the occasional Fish & Chip supper evening with two one act plays, or it could be a production performed in the round. In the last few years CDS has entered the Elmbridge and Leatherhead Festivals with much success. All auditions are open to non-members.
New members are always welcome; whether for acting or set design, set building, costumes, props or front of house. Please see our ‘Membership’ page for more details
